MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD for short) is a specialist treatment that supports the lymphatic system and encourage the flow of lymph fluid. This in turn encourages the lymph nodes to drain the affected area.

MLD can be used as a relaxation treatment or used to support your individual health by reducing the symptoms of;

  • Lymphoedema

  • Water retention

  • Blocked sinuses

  • Reduction of toxins

  • Headaches and migraines

MLD can support;

  • Improved complexion

  • Help with sprains

  • Bruises

  • Headaches and migraines

If you're about to undergo a surgery or have just had surgery, a drainage treatment can help reduce swelling and support healing.

In addition, if you are about to travel on holiday and tend to swell up on a plane, why not have n MLD treatment before you go?

A single MLD session can take anything from 15 minutes to an hour and a half depending on whether you choose to focus on a specific area or enjoy a full body MLD treatment.

MLD is sometimes referred to as a massage but this is not strictly true because even though it's very relaxing, the pressure on the body is very light to ensure we are supporting the movement of lymph.

Our Therapists are all trained and certified in the Vodder method of MLD.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

WHAT IS MLD?

MLD is a “light touch” therapy that stimulates the lymphatic system. MLD is cleansing, energising and rejuvenating.

WHAT IS THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM?

The lymphatic system is a major system that plays a major role in your body’s immunity. The lymphatic system removes excess fluids and waste products including toxins and bacteria from around the cells and assists in transporting nutrients and oxygen to the cells.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING AN MLD SESSION?

During treatment, your therapist will open your Terminus (at your chest area) and then bit by bit, in your specified area(s), clear the stagnated fluid which will increase the flow of lymphatic fluid in a methodical, relaxing motion. The therapy is painless and very “light touch” in comparison to a more typical massage.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Each treatment will start with a brief consultation to ensure your suitability and you understand the treatment you're about to undergo (The consultation can either be completed immediately before the treatment or at an earlier time) Then, A typical MLD session will take around 15-60 minutes.

Your therapist will give you all the advice you need.
